AMY SHOWALTER
President
The Showalter Group, Inc.
Momentum and Motivation for Grassroots Success

Amy Showalter, grassroots productivity expert, is a national grassroots consultant and professional speaker who founded The Showalter Group to help associations and corporations increase their grassroots and PAC effectiveness.

Known for her candid, to-the-point style and innovative approaches to grassroots programming, Amy will tell you what you need to know to establish a motivating, innovative grassroots program, as well as what you must do to rejuvenate your existing grassroots efforts.

Amy has galvanized thousands of grassroots evangelists and staff for her clients who want to advance their cause politically. For nine years she directed the efforts of the highly acclaimed Nationwide Insurance Civic Action Program (CAP). Under Amy’s direction, CAP’s membership grew 100 percent in just nine months, to more than 12,000 employee, agent and retiree members in 17 states. In 1996, more than 2,000 public affairs professionals across the country ranked Nationwide’s program as one of the top two corporate grassroots programs in the country. (Ed Grefe and Martin Linsky, The New Corporate Activism)

She now delivers results-oriented consulting and development services for national trade associations and Fortune 500 companies. She has revitalized programs at Southwest Airlines, the American Cancer Society, State Farm Insurance, and the International Dairy Foods Association, to name a few.

In addition to her quarterly newsletter for Public Affairs professionals, Amy’s grassroots productivity articles are regularly published in national trade association newsletters and regional business publications. She authored three chapters of the Public Affairs Council’s grassroots book, “Winning at the Grassroots.” Amy is also a frequent guest on radio talk shows across the country, where she reveals her research findings on what makes politicians tick.

The Showalter Group created the Political Involvement Program Innovation Award to reward innovative practices in corporate and association grassroots, PAC and technology. The award is presented annually at the National Conference for Political Involvement Professionals.

She is a member of the National Speaker’s Association, the International Coach Federation, and serves on committees of several national organizations dedicated to advancing the government relations profession.

Amy has worked “inside” the system as a Legislative Aide to Ohio Senate President Richard Finan, and as a lobbyist for the Ohio Chamber of Commerce, where she represented the interests of the Chamber’s small business members.
